wow thats crazy, I've never seen a XJ rusted so badly.

For that matter I've barely ever seen any rust on an XJ.

Seriously? I don't remember it being that long...oh well. After all the driving you/I did last semester, all the various trips are kind of a blur in terms of the driving part.

Tonights progress:
got the old LCA mount off the left side, only put a small cut in the supply fuel line(FYI it is about even with the bottom of the tank, so it won't stop pissing)
full bump, looks like clearance will be tight, but should be OK

need to cut more of the old UCA out, might have to move one end over a little.

without the coil spacers:

with coil spacers

lowers are currently 36" , upper is 40ish.
I've got 1/2" of threads on each end of the lowers so i'm going to screw them in and see how it looks and go from there.

I can't remember, and I definitely didn't save the 3 link calc page. I'll have to redo it.

Do you have the calc screenshot handy?

Here's mine...

Roll axis isn't that important for a steering axle.

Thanks Vetteboy.

I'm going to measure what I've got now, and figure out how much I've changed it from the original plan. and see where to go from there.

didn't do too much tonight, screwed the joints in all the way to shorten the lowers an inch, need to take them out and take 2" out of the tube and reassemble, and I think it will be good. Then I measured the suspension so I could tweek it some, figure out were i needed to go.
For those who might care.
This is what it currently is:

Pretty sure this is what it's going to end at:

101" wheelbase...

So you've shortened the wheelbase from stock, after adding longarms up front?

The axle end is kinda estimated where I think it's going to be, frame end is actually where it is.

it's at 102 right now, but there is no way in hell the tires will fit in the wheel wells, and the springs are angled back. I've got to pull the springs out and check it when the axle is at full bump, but it looks like the fenders would have to be cut 3" forward. I'm going to play with it more tonight.

Thats kinda what I was thinking too, but it doesn't make sense because the springs are in the stock location (the front mount, so the center pin position won't change) and the front wheels are way forward in the wheel well. Oh well...it is what it is.

Lift springs have the same dimensions as stock springs, which would push the rear tire forward.

I have always ran my rear leafs in a redrilled perch 1" forward from the stock hole.

if the spring is the same length from eye to eye along the length of the spring, the more arch it has the closer the distance from eye to eye as a straight shot gets. thus, the center point of the spring moves, too.

get it?

Yes, they do. I can't remember which way I oriented them...hopefully...HOPEFULLY the offset is the same to each hole. I think one hole is offset 1", one is 2" on eitherside of the middle one...if they aren't the same...that would not be cool.

You could just re-drill one of them if it is off though...

If you mounted them opposite of each other I will die laughing. That's the most clumsy mistake i've ever heard of.
