yep, but i had 2 degree wedges initially. I picked up 7 degree wedges the day we were leaving for RC and james put them in and it didn't change anything. I took them apart this weekend and both front wedges were flipped. now my pinion is pointed where it should be, woohoo.

Nice. That was my first attempt at that, and I had no idea that they were labeled, but I did compare them with the old ones, and they did not look different. Oh well...good to hear that they worked.

He’s keeping the 1.5” DOM hi-steer that was already set up on the D44.

Correct. Even if it happens on this rig, which I doubt, but my next rig, or front axle, which ever comes first, is getting full hydro.

Do the assist for $100. If it cost $500 i'd still say it was totally worth it.

I'm not putting assist on this axle, nor will I put a draglink on my Hi9 or next rig when I do them. I'll stick with regular steering in this rig because it works well and I don't want to put money into something I'll ditch not too far down the road anyway.

Why? You've said it yourself, you just want full hydro cuz you think it's cool. Unless you have clearance issues that require it I say go for hydro assist.

There's nothing wrong with hydro assist, especially on a rig like yours. If you plan on wheeling lots of rocks like you claim it'd be worth a couple hundred bucks to take all the stress off the rust pile you call a unibody.

You drove mine through rock creek. You know you could've done that with your pinky finger.

Can you do that in your jeep?

I'm just trying to say it's a really good idea to do it, you won't regret it at all. It's extremely simple, so saying if you are going to do it you want to go full hydro is a huge sack of BS.

When it comes down to it, it's your choice. Full hydro is def. the sh1t, but for my $100 investment I am far from seeing the advantage of the $1500+ purchase.

Agreed xamillion

Clearance issues are the primary reason I'm going full hydro on mine and even then there's a slim possibility that that may change depending how things look with the new frame.

x2

I drove brians before. Its a little sluggish, (Timmay says due to a bigger ram brian runs) but steering is effortless once the assist kicks in.

x2 for me and the full hydro. For me it's a vicious circle, if I didn't have a track bar in there I'd have space for hydro assist, take out the track bar and now I have a triangulated 4 link, got to run full hydro.

I know I am not going to keep it indefinitely...why would I? Its not like it has as much sentimental value to me as Tim's Jeep would to him...this is just another XJ...which there are 394850790854719230579834267 of. If I am going to keep a rig forever, its going to be different.

I know what you are saying, and its all great info/advice, but adding something just to make it turn better right now is not exactly on the agenda. I need to do a clutch, figure out how to lower the SOB, wheel it to work out any bugs it may have...at which point I will have even less money than I have now, but if the money allows, i'll consider it.
