I am for sure, the bender is getting delayed though... With my new rust hole in the tub and a growing list of things to do just to make it drive-able are absorbing the t00b bender fund.

Cliffs: I dont want my Jeep to turn into Matt's.

We can still work on your Jeep Sean, it will be fun fun fun for everyone.

I was just kidding around anyway. It'll be a few weeks till I get the bender all ready to rock anyway, but then we can do up some fenders. 1.5" .120 wall DOM okay with you? I'll have 40' of it as of an hour from now.....pay me for the tube and the 1/8" sheet we'll be using(since I'm sure I'll need to replace it for my own use) and we'll hammer those out pretty easily.

Why not use 1.5x.120 HREW...or even sh1t pipe for that matter. No need for DOM like you've said for a set of fenders.

Sh1t pipe is measured on the ID, the dies I have are for an OD. I'm not gonna risk damaging my $250 dies to save Mike a couple bucks on his fenders. If there's a readily available sh1tpipe that's proven to work in a 1.5" or 1.75"(which would look stupid on fenders IMO) tube die then we'll use it. I said DOM over HREW cuz the DOM's already at my house. I don't care what we use, he's paying for materials. I can have most of the bends done beforehand, then just get everything exactly where it needs to go when his Jeep is at my house.

Yeah I remembered that shortly after I said it. HREW still gets my vote, due to cost savingz, and I know Mike needs that every chance he can get.

Hey hey now, dont take it out on me that James is a homo. DOM is the only t00b that touches my baby.

Cutting up my hood is in order for those new fenders, yay!

Fine by me. I only got 20' of 1.5" .120 wall, but that'll be enough for some nice fenders. Going into the hood is fine with me, but that'll obviously take more time and it'll mean I won't be able to have most of it bent up before you come out. Here are a couple ideas for yours. Mine will probably be a combination of a few of them.....maybe we'll try it on yours first to see if it'll look like sh1t or not
What I think you'll like best:

The rest:

Yeah I thought the same thing when I saw it.....but I doubt I'll do it just cuz it's barely worth the trouble. Definitely a cool look though

I'm a big fan of the stance and the fenders on that jeep.

if you lowered it like 5 inches, it'd be sweet.

I would have to get drop coils. Maybe while I am there we can comp cut it too, comp cut rigs with stock wheelbase are awesome.

Have you gotten any sheet metal Sean?

I've got a 4'x4' sheet of 1/8" and 1/4". I definitely shouldn't have bought that much 1/4".......it's gotta weigh 200 lbs or close to it. Not fun to move around. Sh1t-ton of tube sitting in the pole barn just waiting for me to play with it too.

I got my welding cart about 2/3 built over the past couple hours. I played with the new chop saw(awesome), and laid down a bunch of welds. I used the opportunity to play around with styles and settings on the welds I'll be grinding down anyway. Then for the welds I'll be leaving I tried Timmay's suggestion of vertical down welding........holy fukk!! It was an instant tenfold improvement in my welds. Excellent beads, great penetration, no undercutting, smooth flow with nice stacked dimes. I love vertical down already

Post some pics. I wanna make sure you aren't cold lapping them. It's way too easy to do with vert down, and that would suck to do all over your rig...

Glad you finally realized that MIG is fukkin easy.

I'll post pics tomorrow. I didn't do that many vertical down yet, so I'll get pics once there are more to see.

I've known MIG is easy all along, I've just wanted to practice more to make em as pretty as possible.

so the weld is orientated vertically. then you weld down to up or up to down? which way is the gun pointed?

Top to bottom. Gun aimed about 10* up.

Every MIG teacher will tell you that vert down isn't a good way to weld, but i've been told the opposite in the field. It makes such a nice flat bead it's hard to beat.

FWIW, I won't weld downhill on certified stuff. Just not worth to risk to under penetrate when all the welds get xrayed. For jeep stuff however, the welds don't see anywhere near the load that something like say....an aircraft carrier arresting system sees.

Great, more bad advice from Timmay. My overly beefy welding cart is gonna fold in half and kill me because Timmay likes pretty welds. You piece of sh1t.

At the counter at the pron store where we bought the magazine. They were presents for James' b-day. He was very very very grateful. That's xjman646 on the left and BMFmike on the right.

Someone convince be not to buy a set of brand new 17” Staun beadlocks for $500 shipped. Remind me that I don’t need these and the 14.5” wide tires will be fine on 8.5” wide wheels even at low pressures. It’s a waste of money, right? Right????
