This build may have to take longer than I'd like.....or I may have to settle for cheaper parts here and there, such as the 1 tons with 4.56s I just PMed Cobound about.

Here's the main issues i had:
- Hub design. The Dodge external hub has only mile marker and superwinch for aftermarket support, both of which are extremely weak. I broke over 8 super winch hubs, a good portion of them from nothing other than torque, while the others ended up getting thrashed by hitting rocks. The Dodge external hub sticks out 1-1/2" farther than a chevy lock out with Tera hubs. In addition, the only option you have should you decide to go 35 spline is to either run drive flanges, or replace the hub, rotor, stub, and lock out, which anyway you slice it is roughly $800 give or take.

- Caster/Pinion angle. The dodge comes with approx 6* of caster and a 0* pinion angle, while the chevy has roughly 6* of caster with 4* pinion angle. The issues i encountered are this. In order to keep the driveshaft from binding up against the pinion yoke, i had to run 6* shims in the front of the dodge to get a 6* pinion angle, resulting in AWFUL road manners. With the chevy i was able to run 2* shims, to achieve the same pinion angle and still have great road manners. With a 6* pinion angle set up 1" SOA springs with a SRS, i bound up the driveshaft against the yoke hard enough to puke a cap 2-3 times in 3 years. Most notably at EJS last year where i ended up taking out a 35 spline 70 shaft in the rear because i was in such a bad spot when it broke In addtion to the bad angle, i went through 3 seperate front driveshafts before giving up and just welding together a super stout .25 wall DOM tube for a shaft and just let it get bent when it hit rocks. I must have put 5 or 6 different yokes on the front end cause the pinion had a thing for finding rocks and hanging me up then shredding the ubolts.

Thanks Wally. I'm looking at a Chevy right now, but we'll see what happens there. I'd like a decent pinion angle while still maintaining good road manners, so that sounds like the way to go.

I had a little free time last night so I figured I'd see what my spare 35s look like on it. The front wheels don't clear the hubs, but you get the idea:








Here's what the final width will be with an SRW60, H2s, and 14.5 wide tires. Not too shabby. The actual tires will be 6" taller and stick another 2" inward, but still a decent visual:






And I fukked up my back doing it. I feel old.

so when I get all my parts and pieces ordered and on the way can I buy you a plane ticket and fly you down here to help....I don't have a crew down here to help me with things like I did in Jays shop...and my skills are way behind....plus I have extra vicodin for the back

I live in Highland again, so negative on the plane ticket....but yeah, I'll help. A few bucks here and there will help me pay off the welder and tube bender
My back feels quite a bit better today. The doc said it should be quite a bit better in 2-5 days, and so far he's right....but that may be the painkillers talking.

Nah, the Jeep is fine. The even if I had messed up the quarter they're gonna be covered with armor before it's done anyway.
My back is getting better surprisingly quickly too, so that's nice.

That was just the old brian pinion shim eye, i actually did that with my d44 too the first time just see what was going on and havent touched it since.
